Obituary of James C. Dawson III Albion: James C. Dawson III age 71, died August 30, 2017 with his loving familyby his side. James was born April 25, 1946 in Durham NC. a son of the late Drs. James C. Dawson Jr. and Jane Lippert Dawson.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of St. Vincent’s High School of Petaluma, CA. and California State University of Hayward CA. with a master’s in Education. He taught Mathand Historyin the Willis CA. School System, and also later in Laytonville CA. School. He took pride in his students winning numerous scholastic competitions.Jim retired as a High School Math and History teacher. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and enjoyed watching Gunsmoke. Jim served his country in the United State Army in Vietnam from 1969-1970. In addition to his parents, Jim was also predeceased by his sister, Celia Dawson Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Karls Dawson; daughter, Sabrina Dawson; step-daughter, Becky Karls and step-granddaughter, Taylor Walczak; brothers and sisters, Dr. Patrick (Karen) Dawson of CA, Chloe (Bill) Thurman of CA, William (Rae) Dawson of AZ, Bernadette Dawson of CA, Chris (Lisa) Dawson of CA, Janeanne Dawson of CA, Robert (Linda) Dawson of CA, and Terese (Jim) Doolittle of CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, schoolmates, friends and his dogs, Gretel and Leo. Jim’sMemorial Service will be held at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue Albion, Thursday September 21,at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Mt. Albion Cemetery with military honors, In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orleans County Office for the Aging, 14016 Route 31 W. Albion, NY 14411.
