Holley: James E. Logsdon, 98, a devout Catholic, entered God’s eternal care on Easter morning, April 17, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born August 4, 1923 in Everson PA., son of the late Joseph and Emma (Wiggins) Logsdon.
James was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy, served on the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier with duties in the Pacific theatre. Before moving to the area, James, his wife and children traveled the US working on the transnational pipeline. During this time, James and Esther’s children were born across six different states. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak and was a multi-skilled craftsman and built his family home. He enjoyed his many hobbies over the years including camping, hiking, fishing, baseball, running, bocce, golf, horse racing, cards, and volunteering at his church. James was blessed to enjoy a very long and healthy life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
James is predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Esther and his son, David. Cherished by his children, James (Dana), Mary Jo (Dennis) Carpenter, Dr. Gregory (Vicki), Mark (Paul Willink), Kevin (Lisa), Dr. Karen (Mike Capan), Loretta (Bill) Andris, Peter (Roberta); Mary West-Logsdon, his daughter-in-law, 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31, Holley, Friday, May 27 from 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Saturday, May 28 at 10:00am. Interment following the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 9 S. Main St. Holley, NY 14470.
