Janice Lorraine Wilson, 87, of Lockport, passed away February 24, 2025. Janice was born February 13, 1938 in Lockport, a daughter of the late Leslie M. and Inez (Rosenthal) Heal.
Janice was a 1956 graduate of Lockport Sr. High School and in April of 1956, joined Farmers & Mechanics Savings Bank as a bookkeeper/trotter, progressed to bookkeeping supervisor, branch coordinator, platform officer, special services officer and retired as assistant vice president in charge of buildings (5 branches), insurance and purchasing, retiring June 2, 1989.
Mrs. Wilson was a life member of Grace Episcopal Church, Lockport, where she was a Sunday School Teacher/Superintendent, Vestry member and Treasurer, Alter Guild member, co-chair of the church thrift shoppe. Janice served on the Episcopal Diocesan Council, Alter Guild and Delegate to Diocesan convention for several years. She was a member and Board member of the YWCA of Niagara, it’s 29 & Holding group, member of Newfane Golden Age club, serving as past Secretary and Treasurer. She was also a 55-year member of South Wilson Fire Co. Auxiliary, having held various positions.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, David C. Wilson, whom she married on April 12, 1958, sisters, Joyce (Cono) Sammarco, Leah (Glenn) Foley, sisters-in-law Judy Heal, brother-in-law William Gregg. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wilson was predeceased by her sisters Florence (Myron) Winegard, Virginia Gregg, Cynthia (William) James, brother Charles Heal, sisters-in-law Helen (Durwood) Bendt and Arlene (Paul) Karsten one niece and one nephew.
Mrs. Wilson’s family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY., 14067 on Thursday, February 27, from 3:00-7:00. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00am. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria, N.Y. in the spring.
