Obituary of John P. Carr (GAINES)
John P. Carr, age 95, formerly of Gaines-Waterport Road, died 12/2/2016 in The Villages of Orleans following a brief illness. He was born 2/7/1921 in Albion to Andrew and Barbara(Koval)Carr and was a lifetime resident of this area. John was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years but will be remembered by most people for having served the Town of Gaines as Justice for 45 years. He also served the Town as a Councilman. In addition, he was a life member of the Active Hose Company of the Albion Fire Department, a 75 year member of the BPO Elks Lodge #1006 as well as a life member of the Sacred Heart Club, a past member of the Medina Moose Club and member and past President of the Albion Lions Club. John also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing but what he loved the most was being a grandfather and interacting with his grandchildren. Mr. Carr was predeceased by his wife Marion in 2010, and his siblings: Mary(Edward)Breuilly, Sophie(Robert)Christy, Katherine(Randy)Cole, Ann(Harry)Moon, and Nellie(William)Korkue. He is survived by his daughter: Lois(Robert)Donovan of Medina, 2 grandchildren: Kevin(Caitlin Godin)Donovan, Shiela(Brian)Wyncoop as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, FRIDAY 12/9/16 from 5-8pm and SATURDAY 12/10/16 from 9-11am where his Funeral Service will follow visitation at 11am. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery-Hamlin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Albion Fire Department, Platt Street, Albion, NY, 14411 or the Albion Lodge #1006 BPO Elks, 428 W.
