(Holley) John B. Dellaquila age 86 passed away May 25, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born October 23, 1936 in Johnsonburg, PA, a son of the late Enrico and Marian (Vavala) Dellaquila and had lived in this area for over 50 years.
John served in the US Army from 1954-1957 and was a member of the Holley Jewell Buckman Post #529 American Legion. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Holley for 58 years where he served on various committees. John taught English for 35 years at Holley Central School and belonged to their Teacher’s Association. He was chairman of the board when the Martin Linsin Residence for Orleans County Hospice was being built. John was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching Jeopardy and sports; but most importantly, through the years, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Joseph Dellaquila, Grace Viola, Mary Viglione, Stephen Dellaquila, Rosanne LaFay.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann; his children Mary Beth Dolan, Francis Dellaquila, Mark (Sara) Dellaquila; 4 grandchildren; brothers Thomas (Frances) Dellaquila, Pat (Jacie) Dellaquila, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 16650 State Rte. 31 Holley on Thursday June 1st 4:00pm-7:00pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church Holley, followed by Military Honors. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or St. Vincent DePaul Society, 9 South Main St., Holley NY 1440.
