Obituary of John Robert Klos John Robert Klos Jr., age 92, of Barker, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility. Born August 26, 1921 in Buffalo, John is the son of the late John and Hattie (Tenser) Klosinski Sr. John served in the United States Army Air force from September 30, 1942 until December 5, 1945 where he achieved the rank of Corporal. While in the Air force, John was an airplane sheet metal worker and received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. June 1, 1946, John married Rosalie Sharp in Kingston, NY. Rosalie died October 5, 1997. John worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport as an inspector, retiring after 22 years. John and Rosalie started Klos Nursery in Barker in 1969. John married Rita Ashner Abbott on October 19, 2001 at St. Patricks R.C. Church in Barker. He was a member of St. Patrick R.C. Church in Barker Holy Names Society, Barker Lions Club and the VFW. John hand lived in Barker since 1953 previously of Kingston and Buffalo, NY. Surviving John is his wife: Rita, daughter: Linda (William) Harris of Chesnee, SC and son: John (Leila) Klos III of Barker, stepchildren: Lorraine (Ed) Bradley of Williamsville and Raymond (Olga) Abbott of Lockport. Brother of the late Daniel Klos. Grandchildren: April (Scott) Wilson, Karrie (Gerardo) Tapia Portillo, Brandon Klos, Jay Gancasz, Joseph Gancasz, John (Mitzie) Gancasz, Dina Nazarova, Matthew Bradley, and Hannah Bradley. 9 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren also survive John. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 with the Reverend James Hassatt officiating from Our Lady of the Lake Parish (St. Patrick's Site), 1726 Quaker Road, Barker, NY 14012.
