Obituary of John Francis Panek (ALBION)
John Francis Panek, age 80, passed away May 6, 2015 following a sudden battle with brain cancer. He was born July 3, 1934 in Oakfield to Albert and Anna (Polak) Panek. He was the youngest of 11 children. John was predeceased by his siblings: Frank, Albert, Josephine, Anna, and Nellie Panek, Mary Sumeriski, and Julia Gabriel. John attended Elba School and served two years in the Army. While working at Kodak, a job he held for 30 years, he started a small farm of 10 acres…as farming was his true passion. This farm would grow with the help of his two sons Peter and James, to one of the larger farms in Orleans County. John's work ethic was passed down to his sons and grandchildren to make Panek Farms and Panek Coatings two successful businesses that he was very proud of. He also enjoyed getting together with friends and family to play a game of cards. John married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Shuler on June 9, 1953. Together they had three children, Peter, James and Todd Panek. Barbara predeceased John in June of 2013. John will be greatly missed by his sons: Peter(Lorijean)Panek of Albion, James(Kerry)Panek of Albion, Todd(Gary Will)Panek of MA, 8 grandchildren: Shaun(Michele)Panek of PA, Christopher(Kim)Panek of Albion, Alan(Guinevere)Panek of Albion, Kathryn(Ryan)Klotzbach of Lyndonville, Matthew(Jessica)Panek of Albion, Philip(Kaitlyn Miller)Panek of Albion, Kristin(Sean Maher)Will of MA, Cory Will of MA, 8 great grandchildren: Alice and Ellie Panek, Karalyn, Bradley and Elizabeth Jayne Klotzbach, Dudley and Grady Panek and Eulalie Panek, his siblings: Dorothy(late Bernard)Allen of Elba, Dr. Susan(late Jack)Coffey of Albany, Florence(Richard)Rodon of Oakfield as well as several nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, and several special close friends. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, MONDAY from 2-4, 6-9 pm. Family and friends are invited to meet at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church for John's Memorial Mass TUESDAY at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans.
