Obituary of John Williams Albion: John R. "Jack" Williams age 91, died January 4, 2013 at The Villages of Orleans. He was born November 28, 1921 in Albion a son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Wentworth) Williams and had lived in this area all his life. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII in the 793 Squadron as a gunner in a B29 and received Air Medals with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Unit Badge, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and was a member of the American Legion. Jack was Orleans County Sheriff from 1957-1975 and had participated in training courses for the FBI in Quantico VA. Jack's greatest passion was flying, he had his private pilot license and was a member of the Hump Pilots Association, Vintage Aircraft Group, Q. B's Rochester Chapter and enjoyed building planes and inspecting small planes.
He was predeceased by his wife, Norma; brothers, Edward, Leon; sisters, Helen, Amy. He is survived by his dear companion of many years, Phyllis Whittier; niece, Amy Diltz; nephew, Terry Williams.
No prior calling hours. Jack's Memorial Service will be held at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue Albion, Thursday January 10, at 11:00am, followed by full Military Honors. Interment will be in the spring at Sandy Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans. Visitation
