Obituary of Joseph A. Andreano (Clarendon)
Joseph A. “Hobo” Andreano, age 101, died May 18, 2020 at his residence in the company of his beloved wife and loving caregivers. He was born May 16, 1919 in Rochester to Cosmo and Michelina (Stopella) Andreano and had lived in this area since 1969. Mr. Andreano was a US Army Veteran of WWII who fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the 289th Infantry 75th Division 2nd Battalion and was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Medal. He was also a recipient of the Croix de guerre medal from the French Legion of Honor at a ceremony at the United Nations in 2009. Joe loved to paint pictures and was an exceptional writer. He started a Social Club in Rochester called the “11th Warders” which became the Son’s of St. Lucy’s, and is still meeting to this day. He truly enjoyed meeting old friends at Giuseppe’s every week for lunch, something he did for over 20 years. At age 55, Joe got his G.E.D. Then at age 83 he received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and then finally at age 85, Joe received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Andreano was predeceased by his brothers: Phil, Harry, Bindo, Alphonse, Alexander and Alfred. He is survived by his loving wife of over 76 years Grace, his daughters: Liz (Eugene) Morrell of OR, Vinessa Andreano of WA, grandchildren: Jed and Lizabeth and 2 great grandchildren: Olivia and Emmett. There will be no prior calling hours. Joe’s Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY, 14411.
