Obituary of Joyce Lenoyr(VanDenburg) Nesbitt (ALBION) Joyce Lenoyr (VanDenburg) Nesbitt of Albion died peacefully after a short illness Saturday morning, May 10 at Medina Memorial Hospital. After many years of living in the Rochester and Greece area, she was pleased to return earlier this year to reside again in Albion. Joyce was born October 7, 1915 in the Town of Gaines, the daughter of the late Stuart Henry VanDenburg and G. Fern VanDernburgh. Joyce completed the College Entrance Course of study and graduated from Albion High School in 1931. She continued her studies in Geneseo at the Wadsworth Normal and Training School, later known as SUNY Geneseo. After completing her teacher training, she returned to the one-room schoolhouses of Orleans County. She eventually moved to Rochester, and began a career in high-end retail marketing, with purchasing positions at McCurdy's and Neisner's. She received many honors for her work in retail, and valued the style and quality services that were offered to customers from the grand department stores. She married Clyde "Mike" Nesbitt August 7, 1937 in Albion, and again on April 7, 1973 in Rochester, where the couple resided for many years. They enjoyed a loving and happy life together, which they shared with family and friends. Her sharp wit and wry sense of humor was a constant throughout her life. Mrs. Nesbitt was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Albion, and was a proud member of the Albion Elks Lodge, No. 1006. She also served as President and Vice-President of Jacobson American Legion Auxiliary #474 in Greece, and was a dedicated volunteer in the interests of veterans for many years.
