Obituary of Judy W. Fancher (Barre)
Judy W. Fancher, age 72 of Lime Kiln Road, died peacefully 5/4/2014 in Strong Memorial Hospital. Judy was born 12/4/1941 in Albion to Layton and Helen(McOmber)Wilson and was a life-long resident of this area. She was a member of Barre Center Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. The Church was a major part of Judy's life indicative of her being a lifetime choir member, a Sunday School teacher for 33 years, Co-Chair of the Flower Committee for 42 years, Chairperson of the Worship Committee, member of the True Blue Mission Guild, Charter Editor of the Church Newsletter, past Session member and as an Ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church. Judy was also a talented seamstress, had a love for gardening and was known for making "Memory Bears" which were stuffed animals which she made from clothing of a person who passed away…to give to the family to help them "remember" in a special way. She also liked to bird watch, and was a strong supporter of the Albion Central School Music Department. In addition, Judy volunteered for Hospice of Orleans and was known in the area for those famous "Judy Fancher Pies". She showed her love for others by sharing the fruits of her skills as an excellent cook. She and her late husband were the official "Keepers of the Famous Barre Center BBQ Sauce Recipe". Judy did many things, and was very active in the community however she can best be described as 'Mostly a Mom' because her family always came first…a legacy of love which she gave to and left for all of us.
