Obituary of Karen Bates Karen Marie Bates (Malloy), age 77, of Newfane, entered into rest on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Born June 5, 1941 in Lockport, Karen is the daughter of the late: Edward Malloy and the late: Pauline (Aikin) and Richard Daigler. Karen married Robert Bates March 3, 1962 at Ridgewood Immanuel Lutheran Church. They have been married for 56 years. She was an active member of the Ridgewood Immanuel Lutheran Church where she also was a member of it’s Ladies Aide group. Karen retired from General Motors in Lockport as their personnel coordinator in 1998. She also worked on the family farm. She loved baking, gardening and spending time with her family. Karen and Robert were snowbirds, spending their winters in Florida. They were long time season ticket holders for the Dayton 500, meeting racing greats like Richard Petty. Surviving Karen is her husband, Robert Bates and children: Linda Parr and Daniel (Barbara) Halo; sisters: Shirley (the late Charles) Salter and Dottie (Peter) Patterson; sister-in-laws: Donna (the late Ron) Medlin, Judy (the late Barney) Raysor and Debbie (Tom) Muscato; grandchildren: Jonathan Parr, Matthew (Melissa) Parr, Danielle (Patrick) Halo, Haley (Ben) Clark and Joseph Moberg; and great grandchildren: Harrison Joseph Till, Serafina Marie Parr and Eisley Clark. Several nieces, nephews and many dear friends also survive Karen. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 am from Ridgewood Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7147 Ridge Road, Ridgewood, NY 14094 with the Reverend Kenneth Craig officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
