Karen A. Downs

Karen Tacy Downs passed away on March 3, 2025 in Rochester, New York. Karen was born on July 19th 1957 in Rochester and fought a short courageous battle against colon cancer. She is predeceased by Albina Tacy her mother, Donald Tacy her father and Douglas Tacy her brother.

She is survived by Bryan Downs her husband of 45 years, daughters Julia Downs and Alexsandra Silmi (Hassan), granddaughters Tallulah, Julianna, Hope, Oona, and her brother Gregory Tacy.

Karen worked for Corning Incorporated for 20 years. She initially worked at their facility in Canton, NY. A few years ago, they moved to their lakeside home in Lyndonville, NY where she was able to continue her work remotely. Karen enjoyed being closer to family and spending more time with her beloved grandchildren.


People can make contributions in her memory to the Wyoming County SPCA. A Celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
