Obituary of LaCora Griffin Clayton, AL: LaCora Griffin, age 51, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2017. She was born on December 2, 1965 to Mrs. Barbara (Witherspoon) Griffin and the late Mr. Richard Ledbetter in Clayton, Alabama. She attended Brockport High School in Brockport, NY. She attended Alabama State University where she pursued a degree in Computer Science. LaCora later returned to her hometown where she became very active in the town’s church and civic affairs. LaCora confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. Later in life she joined in Christian fellowship with Mr. Moriah Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Richard Mitchell. LaCora was known for her singing. She loved karaoke and she loved children. She worked and volunteered in the school system and the Town & Country Library teaching and tutoring. She had a heart for young people and you would always find them in her presence. LaCora was predeceased by her father; Richard Ledbetter, grandmothers; Corine Griffin, Alice C. Ledbetter, and grandfather; J.C. Smith. LaCora is survived by her son; Klynn Griffin, mother and step-father; Barbara (Billy) Witherspoon, sisters; Penny Dortch, Tamika Shinholster, India Johnson, Darlene Thompkins, brothers; Patrick Griffin, Mark Knight, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. LaCora’s Home going service will be held on Thursday, March 16th from 10:00-11:00 am, with her service starting at 11:00am at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at 17306 Creek Rd. Kendall Mills, NY.
