Obituary of Laura Ann (Dix) Brace (FL/Albion) Laura Ann Dix Brace, age 84 died May 4, 2021 following a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 1, 1936 a daughter of Robert and Ethel (Canham) Dix. Laura enjoyed gardening, crafting and was an avid golfer, winning several awards for her outstanding golfing ability. She was a hairdresser and homemaker as she raised and cared for her four children. After they were grown, she owned and operated The Golden Thimble in Albion. After closing the shop, she went to work for the Canal Corporation. When she left the Canal Corporation she graciously cared for her youngest granddaughter Sarah until moving to Bradenton, FL. As her husband became ill, she cared for him and was always by his side during his battle with cancer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband J. Donald Brace, Jr., her daughter Deborah Brace; four brothers Arnold “Jake” Dix, Harold Dix, Howard Dix, Donald Dix; two sisters Mildred Dix Proctor and Betty Dix Woodworth. She is survived by brother David (Annette) Dix, son J. Donald (Judy) Brace III; daughters Connie (Ronald) Ebbs, Laurie (Andrew) VanHouten; grandchildren Jennifer Gonzalez, Jason Ebbs, Marc Grimm, Julie and Randy VanHouten, Dylan Laney, Tresia and Sarah Brace; great grandchildren Bailey Gonzalez, Pyper Drake and Hannah Ebbs and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue, Albion on Thursday, May 20 from 2:00pm-3:00pm where her Memorial Service will follow at 3:00pm. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Supportive Care of Orleans P.O. Box 489 Albion, NY 14411.
