Obituary of LaVerne Alvord LaVerne J. “Duff” Alvord, age 94, of Gasport, formerly of Tonawanda, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Born August 29, 1923 in Middleport, LaVarne is the son of the late Lloyd and Florence (Davis) Alvord. LaVerne worked at National Fuel Gas Corporation, retiring in 1984. He had lived in Tonawanda before moving to Gasport in 2013. LaVerne enjoyed birds, the Yankees and Hiking. Surviving LaVerne is his niece: Marilyn Nerber of Gasport; great niece: Trisha (Rich) Winchell of Ransomville; Mary (Rich) Gould of Franklin, Wisconsin; great nephew: Glen Licht of Myrtle Beach, SC and Great-great nephew: Jesse (Brittney) Winchell of Newfane. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery in Gasport.
