LaVerne A. Thompson

Obituary of LaVerne A. Thompson LaVerne A. Thompson, age 73, of Lockport, entered into rest on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born January 8, 1938 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Clarence R. and Mabel (Baes) Thompson. LaVerne was a graduate of Lockport High School. He married Edith Wollenberg September 19, 1959. They had been married for 51 years. He had worked at Corson Manufacturing in Lockport as a warehouse supervisor retiring in 1992. Previously he had worked as a cook at Fort Drum while in the National Guard Reserves. LaVerne was a member of the Covenant United Church of Christ, the Hartland Conservation Club and NRA. He enjoyed woodworking, making car models, skeet shooting, hunting, fishing and bowling. LaVerne is survived by his loving wife, Edith (Wollenberg) Thompson. Dear father of: William Thompson of Lockport and Audrey (Robert) Evans of Lockport. Grandfather of: Lucy Thompson and Mitchell and Maxwell Evans. Brother of the late Everett Thompson. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Jackie Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Hartland Conservation Club.
