Obituary of Lawrence "Frank" Bernard Jr. Lawrence F. "Frank" Bernard Jr. of Lyndonville, formerly of Middleport passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Medina Memorial Healthcare system. Mr. Bernard was born in Medina, NY on April 6, 1939 son of the late Lawrence F. Bernard Sr. and Bernice (Gursslin) Bernard and he has lived in Middleport all of his life. Mr. Bernard served in the US Navy from l957 - l961. He and his wife Barbara( McKee) Bernard were married February 15, 1958. Mr. Bernard was the Owner-President of Sigmamators Inc., in Middleport for 43 years retiring in 2005. Sigmamotors made the first pump for open heart surgery. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St.Stephen's RC Church in Middleport where he served as a Eucharist Minister, taught Bible Study and was a Lay Minister. He enjoyed his family, was a member of the NRA and was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed hiking and photography. He was predeceased by a brother Daniel Bernard. He is survived by his wife Barbara Bernard, a son Daniel (Linda) Bernard of Barker, a daughter Shari (Donald) Heschke Jr., of Gasport; his grandchildren Jeremy Bernard of Barker, Emily (Eric) Lunde of S. Carolina, Tristan Heschke, Ian Heschke and Casidne Heschke all of Gasport, two great grandchildren Lucy Lunde and Reagan Lunde both of S. Carolina. Also surviving is one brother and three sisters Robert (Rose) Bernard of Middleport, Mary (Edward) Taylor of Gasport, Carol (Richard) Costello of Barker, Kathleen (Richard) Scarborough of Middleport and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Members of Holy Trinity Parish will meet at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:30 for a Vigil Service. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St.Stephen's RC Church, 21 Vernon St., Middleport where a Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls and the Rev. Joseph Badding. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby, NY. Flowers gratefully declined.
