Obituary of Lawrence D Mark Mr. Lawrence D. Mark, 89, of Holley, NY, passed away July 29, 2012. Born in Batavia, he married the former Marilyn Sliker, who predeceased him in 1977. A veteran of World War II, he served as a private first class in the U.S. Army 17th Infantry. For 38 years he worked in the Batavia and Holley branches of Marine Midland Bank where customers waited in line for him because he was so nice to work with. He also coached Little League and enjoyed golf, NY Yankees baseball and the Genesee Country Museum. Music was very important to Larry. He started out playing oboe in his school band and went on to play baritone bugle with the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps in the 1950s and 60s. He sang in the Holley Presbyterian Church Choir and performed in many Holley community musicals. He served as Trustee and Deputy Mayor for the Village of Holley and on the board of Salvation Army and the United Fund of Eastern Orleans County. He was predeceased by his brother Lyle of Batavia. A consummate family man, he is survived by three sons, Thomas (Shirley) of North Chili, James of Holley, and Robert (Robin) of Middleport; two daughters, Diane of Holley and Susan of DeWitt, NY; a brother, Wilson of Salt Lake City, UT; and six beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah Mogle (John), Nicholas (Ashley), Adam, Melissa and Meaghan. The family is pleased to honor his request for a Dixieland style recessional after the memorial service which will be held Wednesday, August 1 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Holley, 34 East Albion St. Family and friends may call at the house after the service.
