Lawrence "Baby Papa" Nelson

Lawrence “Baby Papa” Nelson, age 85, died November 6, 2021 in Rochester General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born June 19, 1936 in Bleachton, FL and had lived in this area since the 1950’s. Larry was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the AmVets and the American Legion. He attended Albion Free Methodist Church and formerly the Royal Church of God in Christ. Larry loved to fish, was a Jack-of-all-Trades, had a great sense of humor and would talk to anybody about anything. He was a true family man and loved being a grandpa and doing things with his grandchildren. Mr. Nelson was predeceased by 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Juanita, 8 sons, 2 daughters, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, several grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Avenue-Albion, THURSDAY from 11-12 where his Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon following visitation. Interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date in WNY National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local AmVets Chapter of your choice.
