Obituary of Leo J. Borner Holley: Passed away on October 20, 2016, at age 87. He was born in Lockport, NY on December 31, 1928. Predeceased by his parents, Leo and Virginia Borner, siblings; George, Albert, Carol, and Rosemarie, son David M. Borner, and son in law Keith R. Hutchison. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Noreen (Delaney) Borner; children John (Judy) Borner, Shari Hutchison, Richard (Wendy) Borner, Sheila (Brian) Marciano, daughter in law Cheryl Borner; grandchildren; Nicole (Steve) Prendergast, Matthew, Amanda, Michael, Daniel, Melissa, Sara Borner, Isabella and Jessica Marciano; two sister-in-laws Sally Rog and Mary Delaney; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Leo served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954 as a gunner's mate onboard the SS Hyades stationed in Norfolk, Virginia during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Lockport and worked for many years for NYSEG, before retiring in May 1990. He was extremely proud to serve as the Town Constable and Dog Warden for the town of Pendleton. He enjoyed camping at Sugar Creek Glen for many years, traveling with his family and spending winters in Brandon, Florida. He was an avid outdoorsmen who loved hunting, fishing and riding his ATV. He was known to many of his friends as "Bucky" because of his love for hunting. Leo was always a willing conversation partner as he loved to tell his many stories to family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 until 7 PM at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home (Holley) 39 Geddes St. Holley NY 14470. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from Good Shepherd Church, 5441 Tonawanda Creek Rd., North Tonawanda, NY 14120, please assemble at church, burial to follow with military honors at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
