Obituary of Lyndon Billings (KENDALL)
Lyndon D. Billings, Sr. age 88 of Center Road, died 1/3/14 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born 5/16/1925 in Kendall to Earl and Edna(Blake)Billings and was a lifetime resident of this area. Mr. Billings was a United States Army Veteran of WWII Serving in Japan, was a member of the Kendall United Methodist Church and the Social Lodge #0713 F&AM. A graduate of Cornell University, Lynn taught Science in the Lyndonville and Kendall School Systems. He was the former owner of Nationwide Insurance Company in Holley, and was a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension, the United Way and the Dairlea Board. Lynn was also a charter member of the Orleans County Legislature serving for over 20 years as a Legislator with 4 of those years being the Chairman of the Legislature. He and his sons ran Billings Farms in Kendall for many years. Mr. Billings was predeceased by 2 brothers: E. Rexford and Orman B. Billings. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Carol, sons: Lyndon(Edwina)Billings, Jr. of Kendall, Earl(Tracy)Billings of Kendall, Stephen(Joanne)Billings of Clifton Springs, Mark(Kerry)Billings of Burnt Hills, NY, grandchildren: Travis, Molly, Blake, Hannah, Ethan, Ashley, Erin, and Emma, 5 great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31 (West Albion Road,)-Holley, SUNDAY from 1-4 p.m. only. Family and friends are invited to attend Lynn's Memorial Service MONDAY at 11 a.m. in the Kendall United Methodist Church, 1808 Kendall Road, Kendall. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kendall United Methodist Church.
