Obituary of Mabel Gilbert Mabel Gilbert of Lockport passed away Monday April 1, 2013 at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport Site. Mrs. Gilbert was born in Buffalo, NY on August 25, 1924 daughter of the late James and Mabel (Bruning) Szmak. She has lived most of her life in Lockport and retired from Harrison Radiator Division. Mrs. Gilbert was devoted to her two sons, Robert Gilbert of Gasport and David Gilbert of Lockport. Sister of Betty (Douglas) Ortman of Middleport, Jean Cain of Gasport and the late Ernest Szmak and Ronald Szmak. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Burial will be in Royalton Mt. Ridge Cemetery.
