Obituary of Margaret M Krizan Dr. Margaret M. Krizan (Best) of Clarendon, loving wife, mother, (great) grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 20, 2018. Margaret was born on December 9th, 1950 in Rochester, NY; the daughter of Francis and Emily Best. She is the 2nd oldest of six children. She has four brothers and one sister. Margaret married the love of her life, John and they have two daughters, Rebecca and Kristina. Margaret loved education. She has her Bachelor of Science, majoring in Social Science with a minor in Business & History from the University of Rochester. A Master of Science in Education and a minor in Social Studies-Secondary Level from the University of Rochester. A Certificate of Advanced Study, Major Educational Administration from the State College at Brockport, University of New York. Superintendent Developmental Program Certificate from the State University of New York at Oswego. Her Ph.D Doctor of Philosophy, majoring in Educational Leadership from the Union Institute and University. She worked at multiple Rochester City Schools for 20 years as a Grade 7-12 Social Studies Teacher. Margaret also worked at the University of Rochester as a Business Manager, for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and Calvary Assembly. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Holley, Judge for the Oratorical Competitions from 2014-2018 and served as the 2nd Vice President and Membership Director from 2013-2016. She was a member of the Genesee Valley Chapter of NYSASCD and the NYS Association for Women Administrators (NYSAWA). Margaret also sat on the Board of Directors for Oak Orchard Community Health Center, serving as Human Resources and Staff Committees. She was a RCSD Lead Mentor Teacher, Pilot Program Coordinator, Student Teacher Mentor Teacher (University of Rochester, St. John Fishers, Nazareth, Roberts Wesleyan, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Oswego, Geneseo and Monroe Community Colleges Programs. She also volunteered as a Coordinator at the Veterans of America Jamborees from 2010 – 2018. Her hobbies and interests included Advocating for Human Rights, Consulting, Coordinating Events, Crocheting, Needlework, Poetry, Reading, Research, Sewing, Singing, Writing, Playing piano and guitar. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Margaret is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Krizan. Her daughters Rebecca (Aaron) Edwards, Kristina (Joseph) Boyle, her grandchildren; James Edwards (Hali Probst), Brendan (Alicia) Edwards, Alexandria, Connor and Collin Edwards, Kahlia, Jorga and Joey Boyle and her great granddaughter Haven Price-Edwards; her siblings; Paul (Donna) Best, Bernie (Elaine) Best, Joe (Ann) Best, Patty (Jim) Wargo, Dave (Linda) Best, many nieces, nephews and great niece, nephews and many cousins. Friends and Family may come to celebrate her life on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018. Calling hours at 10 AM and Mass following at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 11 S. Main Street, Holley, NY. Interment Private. Reception at the VFW Post 202, 8 Veterans Dr., Holley, NY. (you may bring a dish to pass) In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family and/or St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Mass Cards Welcome.
