Obituary of Margaret M. Wais MARGARET MCLEISH BOYLE WAIS, Brockport NY. Just as she prayed, Dad finally “came and picked her up” on 01/23/2021. Born 06/16/1931 in Alva, Clacksmannanshire, Scotland to Alex Coghi Boyle and Jean Michie Boyle, first of their four children. Her cousin Jack Smullen helped Mom immigrate to Rochester NY in 1949. At a dance at Rochester Business Institute, she met William David Wais. “He had two left feet, but a brand new convertible. And he sure was good lookin’.” Mom worked at Taylor Instruments until their wedding Dec. 1, 1951. Residing in Brockport, they had 4 children: Barbara Jean Oct. 12, 1953; William Alexander Oct. 14, 1954; Marilyn Ann Sept. 19, 1957 and Robert Alan, Sept. 24, 1958. Mom retired from housekeeping at SUNY Brockport in 1989. Mom was especially proud of her granddaughters’ college degrees. She loved to join Bill and Al, with all their friends, racing cars at area dirt tracks. She was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1986, son-in-law Phil Dodson in 1991 and her son Bill in 2016. She was predeceased by Dave’s parents William H. and Jean Wood Wais of Kendall, her parents and her brother Alec. She is survived by her sister Sadie Gilmartin of Rochester NY and her brother Jim Boyle and his wife Nancy of Arizona and their families. She is remembered by special nieces Sandra Gilmartin Wirth of Virginia, Diane Wais Hennekey of Parma, Julie Higley Larkin of Greece and their families. Sadly missed by daughter Barbara Jean of Maine and her daughter Tessa Jean Roscoe of D.C., daughter-in-law Gayle Kopp Wais of Brockport and her daughters Stacy and Vanessa and granddaughter Kira Seretto of Holley, daughter Marilyn Wais Dodson of Henrietta, son Al Wais of Brockport and good neighbor, Fred Seiler of Holley. The family wishes to thank the staff at Comprehensive Villages of Orleans, Albion. There will be graveside services at Sandy Creek Cemetery, Murray in the Spring.
