Mario J. DiMatteo

Obituary of Mario J. DiMatteo Albion: Mario DiMatteo, 91, died peacefully Sunday May 22, 2016 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home following a long illness.
He was born February 19, 1925 in Oakfield, NY a son of the late Alfredo and Rose (Ianni) DiMatteo. Mario was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church. He was a former employee of Starkweather Freight Lines and was proud of the fact that he walked to work every day for 40 years. Mario enjoyed coffee at McDonalds with the morning crew.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances “Peggy” in 2012; and brother, Orlando DiMatteo. Mario is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Chuck) Hughson of Albion; son, James (Jennifer) DiMatteo of Middleport; grandchildren, Kylie and Kellie Hughson, Jimmy (Melissa) DiMatteo, Jeremy (Brandi) DiMatteo; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Avery DiMatteo, Brady Graham, Jace and Braelyn DiMatteo; sisters, Jennifer Salerno of White Plains, NY, Josephine Landy of Pensacola, FL; sisters-in-law, Florence DiMatteo of Oakfield, Mary Ryan of Greenville, SC. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue, Albion, Thursday May 26, from 4:00-7:00. Mario’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church, Friday May 27, at 11:00am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
