Akron/Rochester: Martin H. Riemer, 93, passed away May 17, 2023. Martin was born March 31, 1930 in Medina, NY., a son of the late Paul H. and Gertrude (Voigt) Riemer Jr. Martin was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957. He retired in 1986 after 26 years of service at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. Martin enjoyed mowing the lawn, gardening, nature and calling his family with weather updates.
He was predeceased by his wife Luise Riemer, siblings, Gerhardt (Betty) Riemer, David Riemer and sister Eunice (Dan) Foote.
He is survived by his son Paul (Elizabeth) Riemer and daughter Kristina (Bob Arnold) Riemer; grandchildren William (Kelly) Hoyt and Julie (Matt) Coogan; great-grandchildren Jacob Coogan, Ruby Hoyt, Eli and Ava Coogan, Abby and Zoey Hoyt; sister-in-law Ginger Riemer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Martin’s family will receive friends at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church 6379 Wolcottsville Rd. Akron, NY 14001 on Thursday June 1st, from 12-1:00pm followed by his funeral service at the church. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Adult Day Program at Durand Senior Apartments 4250 Culver Rd. Rochester, NY 14622 or Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center 2652 Ridgeway Ave Rochester, NY 14626.
Martin’s arrangements have been entrusted to Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home 38 State St. Middleport, NY 14105.
