Obituary of Mary Egloff Driesel Albion: Mary E. Driesel, age 91, passed away on Friday November 4, 2016 at the Martin–Linsin Hospice Residence following a brief illness. She was born December 31, 1924 in Batavia, NY and was a lifelong resident of Albion. On September 9, 1950 Mary married Thomas Driesel at St. Joseph’s Church and they would reside on East State Street for over 50 years. After a short stay at Clover Hill Adult Residence, Mary became an active resident at the Villages of Orleans. She was a 1942 graduate of Albion Central School. Mary worked for Harrison Radiator during World War II, New York Telephone Company, Albion Plumbing and Heating, and Arnold’s Auto Parts. Mary worked out of her home sewing Santa Claus suits for the Santa Claus Suit and Equipment Co. These suits have been featured in the Macy’s Day parade for years, as well as, sent to many locations around the world. Her varied interests included making porcelain dolls, handcrafting greeting cards, attending Nutri-Fare, playing bingo and dominoes, and assembling jigsaw puzzles. Mary enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at various activities including scouts, PTA, sports, 4-H, and dog agility. She also loved to travel and went as far as Korea to visit with her family.
Mary was predeceased by her husband K. Thomas Driesel, her son Joseph, and great grand-daughter Emmalee. She is survived by her siblings: Alex Egloff, Florence Egloff, and Edward (Helen) Egloff of Barre; children: Connie Driesel (daughter-in-law) of Kent, Gerard (Laura) of Lyndonville, Anna (David) West of Erie, PA, and Karl (Sue) of Barre; grand-children Karl, Mark (Katie), Sally, Chris (Janelle), Alexis (Phil), Kathleen, Carmen, Jessica, DJ (Mandy), Christine (Christopher), and Bradlee; great grand-children: Luke, Tyler, Zoe, Eris, Leo, Alan, Melinda, Courtney, Jacob, Patrick, Christopher, and Ben; many nieces, nephews, friends, and special niece Mary Ann (Patrick) Lewis and her children Seth and Ashley.
The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Avenue, Albion, on Sunday November 6, from 1:00-4:00. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 7, at 1:30pm(note time) at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
