Middleport: Mary H. Sadlocka, age 93, passed away December 11, 2021 at Niagara Hospice House. She was born August 19, 1928 in Barker to the late George and Eva (Grimble) Holmes.
Mary was a 1946 graduate of Barker High School and attended Grand Frontier Business School in Lockport. She married the late Florian “Floyd” Sadlocka in 1963. Mary moved to Florida in 1974 where she ran Rinehart Used Cars and Junk Yard. Floyd passed away in 1977, the same year she moved back to Middleport. She owned Mary’s Restaurant in Johnson Creek for many years and was also involved in many other restaurant businesses. She was a charter member of the Hartland Fire Co. Auxiliary, Barker-Hartland Senior Citizens, Hartland United Methodist Church, and life member of the Hartland Historical Society.
In addition to her parents and her husband Floyd, she was predeceased by her son, Marty, and siblings, Clifford Holmes, Ethel Craft and Lester Holmes.
Mary is survived by her children, Raymond “Butch” (Deborah) Schultz, Diane (Julie Fletcher) McCauley, Donna (George) VanEtten, 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, special nephew, Walter (Sue) Holmes as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home 38 State St. Middleport, NY 14105 on Wednesday, December 15th from 3:00-7:00pm where her funeral service will be held Thursday, December 16th at 11:00am. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the Hartland Fire Company, Hartland United Methodist Church, or Niagara Hospice.
