Mary Ellen Schoch

Obituary of Mary Ellen Schoch (SCOTIA/ALBION) Mrs. Mary Ellen Schoch (West) of Scotia, NY, died unexpectedly on November 26, 2018 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY the daughter of Ralph George and Florence Ellen (Hucknall) West. Mary Ellen held a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Vassar College and a Graduate Degree in Library Science, Magna Cum Laude, from Syracuse University. She was employed for many years as Head of the Reference Department for the Schenectady Public Library. Mary Ellen was a 54-year member of the First Reformed Church of Scotia and long-time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Schoch is survived by her husband of 68 years Karl, her son: Dr. Karl F. (Deborah) Schoch, Jr. and two granddaughters: Abeni and Imana, all of Catonsville, MD. Mary Ellen’s family wishes to express their highest appreciation for the professional and compassionate care provided by the staff of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, FRIDAY from 12-1 p.m. where her Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. immediately following visitation. Interment will follow in Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Poughkeepsie-Mahwenawasigh Chapter DAR c/o DAR Home Office, 1776 D St. NW, Washington, DC, 20006.
