Mary Jane Shaner

Obituary of Mary Jane Shaner Albion: Mary Jane Shaner, age 96, passed away on July 2, 2016 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 16, 1920 in Johnstown, PA to the late Harvey and Gertrude Costlow. At the age of 16, she moved to Altoona, PA where she met her future husband Melvin. They would spend 63 loving years together until his passing in 2003. Mary Jane and Melvin moved to Ocoee, FL in 1979 and Mary Jane stayed there after Melvin’s passing until 2010. She would then move to Albion and remain in the area until her passing. In her spare time she enjoyed making crafts, traveling, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Melvin, grandson Richard Peoples, four brothers and four sisters. Mary Jane is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Richard) Peoples of Ocoee, FL, Barbara (Doug) Morey of Albion, NY, Judith (Bruce) Liddle of Schoharie, NY, sons, Melvin (Elizabeth) Shaner of Shawboro, NC, Alvin (Anita) Shaner of North Huntington, PA, sister, Nancy Wallace, brothers, Dan (Anna) Costlow, Jim (Virginia) Costlow, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. There are no prior calling hours. Mary Jane’s memorial service will be held at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc. 21 West Ave. Albion, NY on Sunday July 17th at 2:00pm.
