Obituary of Matthew K. Gardner Grieve today, but remember with love. On Wednesday, July 25, 2018 Matthew Gardner died as a result of injuries caused by a traffic accident. He was 25. Matt was born on April 26th, 1993 in Brockport. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Gardner (Mark Dunham); father, Kevin Gardner (Pamela Rickerl), and his sisters: Sarah & Elizabeth; his love, Kayla Osborne; grandfather, Fred Babcock; Sophia Rickerl; and treasured aunts, uncles, cousins and friends “as many as the stars.” Matt loved life, and gathered the love of family and friends, not by keeping, but by giving that love in return. From his days at ‘Netties, through the Albion schools where his love of sports took him to the pool, the football field, and the track. This giving continued as he entered the work world gathering friends at CRFS, and TAKEFORM. Matt’s gentle spirit showed through as children and pets were always drawn to him, and he always gave them his time. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all of Matt’s friends without whom we could not be strong. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1-4 pm at Christopher-Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue in Albion. His funeral service will be Monday at 10 am at The First Presbyterian Church of Albion, 29 E. State St. Albion NY 14411. Uncle, Rev. Thomas Gardner officiating. Private interment at Mount Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to establish the Matthew K. Gardner Scholarship through the Albion High School Alumni Association.
