Obituary of May C. Brown May Clara Schroeder Brown passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021 at age 93. May was born in Gasport, NY on January 28, 1928, daughter of Frank and Lucy Pratt Schroeder. She grew up in Gasport where she had many fond memories including summers at Mirror Lake. She graduated from Royalton-Hartland School, but would always point out that she was in the first combined graduating class from Gasport Central School and Middleport Central School. She first saw her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Brown at the Gasport train station as he got off the train returning from the Navy following WWII. May is joyfully mourned and survived by her sister Melinda Schroeder of NYC, sons Greg Brown (Paresh Sheth) of Atlanta, Erick Brown of Phoenix and Jeff Brown (Angie) of Middleport, grandson Ryan Brown (Jin Kim) of NYC, granddaughter Alexis Brown (Ian Perry) of Citra, Fl, grandson Jason (Calli) Gardner, great grandchildren Mackenzie, Ella and Paige Gardner and numerous nieces and nephews. May was a real “mother of the 1950/60’”, serving in many activities: including Cub Scout Leader, Hartland UMC programs, was an active bridge player and loved her monthly “girls” outings with her Gasport girlfriends. She first started working with Friends Manufacturing in Gasport, also employed with Smith Roses in the business office and as business manager for her husband’s company RWB Plastering/Drywall. May and Bob loved traveling the world, visiting; Mexico, Bolivia, Machu Picchu - Peru, Europe, Africa and Alaska. They met many new friends during the travels remaining friends for decades. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Brown, brother Albert and wife Katie Schroeder, sister Mary and husband Gene Nash, infant brother George and grandson Adam Gardner. Family is grateful to the community who contributed to her quality of life in her senior years including special friend Richard (Dick) Randolph. Heartfelt thanks go to her loving caregivers who made it possible to remain in her home – Diane & Gary Urtel, Joy Tocha, Calli Gardner and dear niece Gwen Hunt and the entire SunRise Café staff, where she ate lunch every day. The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. Gasport, on Sunday July 18, from 1:00-4:00. May’s funeral service will be held at the Hartland United Methodist Church, 8019 Ridge Rd., Gasport, on Monday July 19, at 11:00am. Interment will be in Hartland Cemetery.
