Obituary of Melanie Anne Kent Albion: Melanie Anne Kent was born in Richmond, CA. June 24, 1947 and was welcomed to the Angels’ Heavenly Choir June 2, 2017, after a mercifully brief struggle with cancer surrounded by her family while her favorite song by Patsy Cline was playing “Sweet Dreams of You”.
Melanie’s greatest joy was singing in the Holy Family Parish Church Choir. Other than singing God’s praises, Melanie had a great love of animals. When asked recently whether she had a dog, she replied, “Yes and No”. The canine companion dearest to her was a Shih Tzu named “Bumpy”, who predeceased her by many years. She also loved horses.
For Mel, there was only one team, the Buffalo Bills. Melanie leaves her mother, Virginia Grace Johnston Kent Spalla VanApeldoorn; a sister, Celia Kiewit; brothers, Gary (Grace), Kevin (the late Joanne) and Keith (Lisa); three uncles and two aunts, several nieces, nephews and many friends, but especially Adrienne Daniels and Harriette Greaser. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue, Albion, Thursday June 8, from 4:00-8:00. Melanie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish on Friday June 9, at 10:00, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish 106 S. Main St. Albion, NY 14411 or P.A.W.S P.O Box 244, Albion, NY 14411.
