Obituary of Melvin H. Dawley (ALBION/BATAVIA)
Melvin H. Dawley, age 79 formerly of Crimson Heights, died 12/9/2016 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Batavia following a long illness. He was born 3/9/1937 in Barre Center to Homer and Ina Dawley and had lived in this area all of his life. Melvin was a United States Navy Veteran having served in Korea as well as 3 Tours of Duty in Vietnam as a Medical Technician and was the recipient of several prestigious commendations including: National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, numerous Good Conduct Medals and the Combat Action Purple Heart Medal Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He enjoyed gardening, playing B.I.N.G.O. and relishing the peace that private solitude can offer one’s self. Mr. Dawley was predeceased by his brothers: Raymond Dawley, Marvin(Lorraine)Dawley, and Darwin(Masako)Dawley. He is survived by his sisters: Beverly Stone, Joyce Yondo as well as several nieces and nephews including James(Loria Nottingham)Stone. Services and interment in Union Cemetery will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to COVA, 239 S.
