Obituary of Merle K. Ricci Merle “Mike” Kubica Ricci, 83, of Carlton, passed away peacefully, March 22nd, 2019 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born to Alfred and Grace Fay Kubica on 8 July 1935 in Rochester, NY. Academically, Mike earned a master’s degree and taught at various levels of education over the years. Additionally, she owned and operated several family businesses. She is perhaps best known for RicciMeadows Golf Club. Mike was an experienced seamstress. In her younger years, she sewed wedding gowns and in retirement she made several machine-embroidered quilts. Mike had numerous and diverse hobbies. She was a world traveler, an avid reader and one who enjoyed playing poker. At the age of 63, received her Charter Captain’s License. She was most easily described as a cross between Auntie Mame and Scarlett O’Hara. Mike is survived by her daughter, Hollis (Gordon) Canham, her son, Charles (Sarah) Ricci, and a “bonus” daughter, Cathie Barry. She had three Grandchildren: Andrew Canham, Peter Ricci 2nd, and Mikken Canham. Mike also had three Great-Grandchildren: Charles Dan Ricci 2nd, Danielle Ricci, and Loryn Canham. She had several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Peter Ricci, sisters Audrey Roosa, Fay Roberta Ciarico, and a brother, Paul Kubica. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue, Albion on Thursday, March 28th, 2019 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Immediately following visitation, a wake will be held at the Albion Elks Lodge #1006, 428 W. State St. Albion.
