Michael J. Herriven, age 61, died unexpectedly April 23, 2023 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

He was born October 9, 1961 in Medina To Lee and Nancy (Krueger) Herriven. In addition to working at various retail stores throughout the area, he also served as the Coordinator of T.O.P.S. (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) for Erie and Niagara County. Michael was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, had a dry sense of humor and was a lover of animals, having rescued his dog “Jack” from a shelter. He was a very family-oriented person and loved attending family events. Michael never complained about his physical health and as such, many people didn’t even know he was the recipient of a kidney transplant in 2016. In addition to his parents listed above, Mr. Herriven was predeceased by his partner: Aaron Muck, his great niece: Delilah Klos, his uncle: Rodney Herriven and his grandparents: Leon and Eunice Zanow, and Walter and Alberta Herriven.

 He is survived by siblings: Dawn Klos of Amherst, Matthew Herriven of Lockport, 1 nephew: Adam (Rebecca) Klos, 2 nieces: Melissa Hicks, Megan (Malinda) Herriven, several aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews, cousin and his faithful dog and companion, “Jack”.

There will be no calling hours. Michael’s Memorial service will be held at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY, 10016. Michael’s arrangements were entrusted to the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home of Middleport.
