Obituary of Michael Thomas Smith Holley
Michael Thomas Smith, age 63, peacefully left us on March 5, 2013 from GBM (brain cancer) in his home. Michael was born on 3/14/1949 in Rochester to the late Alfred and Ruth (Easton) Smith. Michael served his country in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star for his service. Mike was an avid reader, especially Tolkien and Robert Jordan, enjoyed playing cards, and cheering for the New England Patriots and Syracuse Orange. Michael was a machinist and liked working with his hands, building, gardening and fixing things. Mike was a very family oriented man and was involved in and supportive of activities they participated in. He was generous with his time and always willing to help out his extended family and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jean (Elmer), son Brian Bickersmith (Sara), daughter Colleen, granddaughters Violet and Mira. Also survived by his mother, Ruth, siblings Janice Barney, Beverly (Marty) Mihalenko, Al (Margaret), Donald (Kim), Gary (Linda), mother-in-law Mary (Art) Salvione, siblings-in-law Margie, Bill, Cathy Raksha, Maria Elmer, Dolores (Tony) Gratto, Lucy Sulkowski, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and his four-legged best friend, Charlie. All are invited to call at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 West Albion Road (Route 31) in Holley on Sunday 3/10 from 3-7 pm. Michael's life will be celebrated Monday 3/11 at 11 am in the Holley First Presbyterian Church.
