Obituary of Oliver G. Jenks Holley: Oliver George “Poppy” Jenks, age 79, passed away on June 3, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born August 3, 1937 in Clarendon to the late Andrew and Georgianna (Bartlett) Jenks and would remain in the area his entire life. Poppy served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960. He was a member of the Holley VFW Post 202 and the American Legion Jewell Buckman Post 529. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker. Poppy was also an avid NY Mets and NY Giants fan. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids whenever he could. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, William, Caroline, Mary, Harriet, Andrew, Laverne, Arnold, Alfred, Griffith, Donald and John. Poppy is survived by his children; Juanita Couch, Andrew (Mary Jo) Jenks, Sondra (Aaron) Aman, sisters; Jeanice Passarell, Shirley (Paul) Wilkins, grandchildren; Angela, Krystle, Koreena, Chelsie, Andrea, Abigail, Austin, Mackenzie, great-grandchildren; Richie Ray, Adrian, Henlee, special nephew; Michael Jenks, special friend; Nancy Howell, little companion; Diesel, and several more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31, Holley, on Saturday, June 10th from 2:00-4:00pm.
