Obituary of Pearl W. Poelma (Gaines) Pearl W. Poelma age 90 died November 11, 2008. She was born November 11, 1917 in Williamson a daughter of the lateHarley & Elsie (Hagood) Wemesfelder and had lived in Gaines over 65 years. Pearl & her husband Ralph owned and operated Ralph Poelma Farms in Gaines for many years. She was a life member of the Gaines Carlton Community Church, taught Sunday School, was a Deaconess, active in Women's Fellowship, coordinated the greeters, assembled the monthly newsletter, very active in the kitchen for all church activities. Pearl was a Red Cross Volunteer (Grey Lady) for 30 years at the former Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital, Literacy Volunteer in Orleans County, the Albion Correctional Facility, Iroquois Job Corps. Pearl taught at Painted Post and Webster Elementary School and was a member and Secretary of P.E.O. She was also a member of the Cobblestone Society and delivered Meals on Wheels. Pearl was always the "Hostess", "Right Hand Man" on the farm and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
