Obituary of Peter Anthony D'Amico ~~OBITUARY NOTICE (ALBION/FLORIDA)
Peter Anthony D'Amico, 100, went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2017. He was born on Feb. 9, 1917 in Albion, New York as the youngest of seven children. Peter was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor, and by his son, Gary, this past year. He is survived by his son, Gene (Mary Ann) of The Villages, Florida and by his son, Dennis (Joyce) of Palm Bay, Florida. He was a loving grandpa to 11 grandchildren and great-grandpa to 18. He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews. Peter was a decorated WWII veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters for bravery in combat. He also received the Soldier's Medal for saving the life of a fellow serviceman. After his retirement from managing D'Amico Concrete Co., he volunteered for over 15 years, working 3 days a week at Daily Bread in Melbourne, Florida. There he was nicknamed "The Candy Man" and received an award for his dedication to serving the homeless community. For many years Peter attended daily Mass and prayed the rosary everyday for his family and friends. There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:00am on June 24th at Holy Family Parish (St. Joseph's) in Albion, NY. followed by a 21 gun military salute at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
