Obituary of Phillip V. Lopez Phillip V. Lopez, age 49, of Burt, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Eastern Niagara Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born July 2, 1962 in Lockport, he was the son of Virginia A. (Salter) Lopez and the late Rudy C. Lopez. Phillip was a 1980 graduate of Newfane Central Schools. He married Frances “Sue” Aikin on December 31, 1982 at Newfane United Methodist Church. Phillip worked at Whiting Door in Akron, NY since 2008; previously he had worked at Oldham Saw and Sherwood Selpac. First and foremost, Phillip enjoyed being with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to the family cabin in the Finger Lakes. Being an excellent cook, he was known for his “Papa Nachos” Mexican Salsa Sauce. Phillip also enjoyed cars. He loved the outdoors and working outside. He had lived in the Newfane area his entire life. In addition to his mother Phillip is also survived by his loving wife, Frances “Sue” Lopez. Dear father of Clinton Lopez of Lockport and Christen Lopez of Burt. Brother of: Sherry (Al) Garver, Vincent “Alan” Lopez, Tina Lopez, Lisa (Henry) Poole all of Lockport, Trudy (Leonard) Wronski of Appleton and the late Tony Lopez. Brother-in-law of Clifford Aikin and the late James Aikin. Son-in-law of the late Robert and Nina Aikin. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved papa of family pet, Chico Lopez. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 am with the Reverend Kim Smith officiating.
