Obituary of Phillis Gancasz Phillis Gancasz, age 77, entered into rest on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Newfane Rehab and health Care Center. Born March 11, 1936 in Buffalo, Phillis is the daughter of the late: John and Jean (Gawronski) Gancasz. Phillis enjoyed playing cards, stamp collecting, crossword puzzles and bingo. She had lived most of her life in Barker. Surviving are her siblings: James (Susan) Gancasz of Middleport, Kathleen (William) Kaier of Georgetown, Delaware, Thomas (Sandra) Gancasz of Barker, Michael (Daryl) Gancasz of Barker. Besides her parents, Phillis was predeceased by a sister Joanne LaJoie. Several nieces and nephews also survive Phillis. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY on Saturday from 10 am until 12 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home immediately following with the Reverend David Hayes officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY.
