Phoebe Ann B. Barkalow Snell

Obituary of Phoebe Ann B. Barkalow Snell Phoebe Ann B. (Rees) Snell, age 90, entered into rest on Friday, October 17, 2014 at National Health Care in Greer, SC. Born September 16, 1924 in Greenville, Michigan, Phoebe is the daughter of the late Rev. William and Ethel (Ellsworth) Barkalow. Phoebe married Stanley Rees May 29, 1948 at Riverside Baptist Church in Buffalo. Stanley died April 28, 1991. She then married John “Hobie” Snell on November 14, 1998 who died on November 14, 2008. She had worked at Newfane Central School for many years before retiring as head baker. She enjoyed her home, extensive gardens, baking and will be remembered for her hospitality. Phoebe lived in Newfane, NY for 50 years and was a member of the Ridge Road Bible Church. Surviving are her three daughters: Lynnette S. Owens of Greer, SC, Shirley A. (Charles) Genovese of Akron, NY and Cynthia J. (Norman) Gibbs of Taylors, SC. Phoebe is also survived by her dear grandchildren: Norman Paul Gibbs, Jr. (Hollie), Samantha Sinek (Paul) and Adam Michael Gibbs (Bethany) and 7 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY.
