Obituary of Randolph J. Rider (GASPORT)
Randolph James “Randy” Rider, age54, died peacefully February 18, 2021 in Buffalo General Hospital with his family by his side, after a short battle with cancer. He was born June 26, 1966 to Franklin Rider Sr., and Bonita (Robert) Fahs. Randy attended Barker Central School and was very active in the Hartland and Barker Fire Departments, holding many Line Officer positions. After becoming disabled in 2011, he became an Exempt Fireman. Randy had many friends whom he loved more than anything. They were more like his brothers and sisters and in cases, was thought of as the ‘Dad’ of the group. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Nothing brought him more joy than his grandkids, his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Rider was predeceased by his Father and Mother and his Father-in-Law, Charles G. Williams. He is survived by his true love and soulmate of nearly 40 years, his wife Cindy, his loving children: Shannon (Brad) Ficarella, and Brandi ( RJ ) Kropp, his awesome grandchildren: Rudolph III, Jayce, Kayson Kropp, Jameson and soon to be 5th grandson: Mason Ficarella who is due to arrive on his birthday this year. Also surviving are his sister: Tina (Ronald) Newman of Lockport, Frank (Janice) Rider of Barker, Robert Rider of Lyndonville, mother-in-law: Cheryl Smith of Bangor, PA, brother-in-law: Daryl Erskine of Bangor, PA, Chet Williams of Howard, Aren (Beth) Williams of Plattsburg along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends at the Kenneth Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue-Newfane, THURSDYAY from 4-8 p.m. ONLY. Service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Please note the Funeral Home will be operating at 50% capacity per state guidelines. NYS requires those in attendance to adhere to social distancing guidelines and face coverings are mandatory.
