Obituary of Richard Dickinson Richard O. Dickinson age 81, died December 17, 2012 at Medina Memorial Hospital. He was born July 8, 1931 in Albion a son of the late John Edward and Helen (Smith) Dickinson. Richard was a First Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War and was past Commander of the Sheret Post #35 American legion where he also played Taps at many funeral services. He was a graduate of Cornell University and was a former employee of T.J. Lipton, Green Haven Correctional Facility and had also owned and operated Dickinson Roofing for many years. In the 1950's Richard played semi-pro football for the Medina Macs.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy; children, Robert (Sue) Dickinson of Albion, Debra (James) Beach of Albion, Randall (Judy) Dawson of Medina; grandchildren, Natalie, Angela Dickinson, Brandi, Jamie Beach, Ashlee, Richard Dawson; 3 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Donald Feeney of TN, nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheret Post #35 American Legion or The Villages of Orleans, Donations Dementia Unit. Visitation
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue Albion, Thursday from 12:00-1:00 Services
His Funeral Service will follow calling at 1:00, with full Military Honors. Interment
Mt. Albion Cemetery.
