Robert J. Bernard, Sr. age 82, died April 2, 2025 in Medina Memorial Hospital. He was born October 7, 1942 in Medina to Lawrence and Bernice (Gursslin) Bernard and was a life-long resident of this area.

Robert was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War Era, and proudly served his community as a member of the Royalton Hartland Board of Education. He was an avid reader, an enthusiast of all things sports-related and was a proud member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Robert was a true outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and anything outside. He loved to garden, especially vegetables and fruit trees and relished any opportunity to dig in the dirt. Mr. Bernard was predeceased by his wife Rosemary and his brothers Frank and Daniel Bernard.

He is survived by his children: Laura (Paul Lukaszonas) Zorn of Pendleton, Beth (Brett) Benedict of Rush, Robert Bernard Jr. of Buffalo, his sisters: Kathy (Richard) Scarborough of Middleport, Carol (Dick) Costello of Barker, Mary (Ed) Taylor of Gasport, his grandchildren: Erin, Zachary, Hannah, Avery, Christopher, Katie as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St.-Middleport SUNDAY April 6 from 6-8 only. His Funeral Service and interment will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Royalton Hartland Community Library, 9 Vernon St., Middleport, NY, 14105 or the Orleans Community Health Infusion Center, 200 Ohio St., Medina, NY, 14103.
