He was born September 20, 1932 in Marion, IL to Faye and Georgiana (DeBose) Galbreath and had lived in this area over 55 years. Bob was a United States Airforce Veteran achieving the rank of Master Sergeant and served in the Korean War as well as Desert Storm and Desert Shield before retiring with over 28 years of service to our Country. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion and had served as a Social Studies Teacher, a Guidance Counselor and a Assistant Principal in the Royalton Hartland Central School before finishing as Director of Special Education for the Orleans/Niagara BOCES.
Bob also happily served for over 50 years as a local Santa Claus to the delight of countless children. He was a member of the Albion Lions Club, Holy Family Parish, and served as a 4th Degree Knight in the Albion Chapter Knights of Columbus. Bob loved to vacation with his family sitting on the deck in the Adirondacks at Mountain View. His family was everything to him and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his world. Mr. Galbreath was predeceased by a son Eric and a grandson Alexander.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Rita, his children: Shawn Reposh of Ithaca, Michael Galbreath of Ithaca, Suzanne Galbreath of Albion, Kay (David) Arnold of Clarendon, his grandchildren: Michaela, Evin (Kira), Jessica, Ashley, Brandon (Jocelyn), Tony (Kaitlyn), Dawson as well as several great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue-Albion, MONDAY from 4-7pm. Family and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial TUESDAY 10am in Holy Family Parish where Military Honors will follow. Interment at the convenience of the family will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Albion Lions Club, 39 N. Platt St., Albion, NY, 14411.
