Obituary of Rose M. Racalto Rose Marie Racalto
11/15/43-10/19/17 Rose died peacefully in the arms of her loving sister and daughter just after sunrise on Thursday 10/19/17.
She is predeceased by her father Angelo, mother Lenora, step-mother Catherine, and brothers Peter (Lou) and Daniel (Nancy) survived by daughter Karen, son Scott (Amy), granddaughters Dallas and Morgan, grandsons Jared and Logan, brother James (Dolores), sisters Mary Helen, Joyce (Bob), Carol (Herm), Marianne (Mike), Elizabeth (Joe), Catherine (Rick), Bonnie (Dennis), Beverly (Mike) plus nieces, nephews, cousins and friends TNTM.Born and raised in Hornell NY, she attended St. Ann’s Grammar School and was a graduate of the 1961 HHS class. After graduation, she moved to Rochester at 18, and found employment at Duke Spinners Music Store where she met the man she would marry. Rosie’s life was full and exciting! As a newlywed, she learned to water ski-winning many trophies for ski jumping while a member of the Irondequoit Bay Ski Club with her husband. She enjoyed fishing and being on the water; eventually becoming first mate while on the many boating trips which took her to places around Lake Ontario and in Canada, that only few are fortunate enough to experience. Cooking/baking was another of her many gifts. Some of the most delicious meals were prepared lovingly for her family and having passed those recipes down are still enjoyed today. What she held most dearly was family, especially her children. As a “cool” mom she led her daughter’s Girl Scout troop for years known as “mom” (much to the dismay of her daughter) and endured many an overnight camping trip! Once, having to bravely protect all against the hungry raccoons! She went on to teach her son how to drive and even graciously accompanied him (and tolerated it!) to his very first “rock” concert-Billy Idol! In fact, there wasn’t much she wouldn’t do for those she loved! Her later years were filled with a new adventure; relocating to Oklahoma in 2009, where she loved the weather and survived each and everytornado season with ease! The love of and from her family brought her back to New York in the late summer of 2017 where her final days were filled with much love, laughter, smiles and crocheting! As per Rosie’s wishes there will be no prior calling hours and a celebration of her life will be planned at the family’s convenience. Memorial contributions in Rose’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
