Obituary of Susan K. Nash (Albion)
Susan K Nash died December 20, 2013 at age 55 from complications of the stroke she suffered on June 19, 2013. Susan was born in Baltimore on November 6, 1958, to William S Nash and Margaret E (Brunner) Nash, now of Jarrettsville Maryland. Except for a year in New Mexico at Cannon AFB while her father was on active duty, Susan attended school at Patapsco and later North Harford school districts in Maryland, graduating in 1976. She was a member of the National Honor Society and FT? (Phi Theta Kappa), graduating from Towson State University (now Towson University). Susan worked in several different fields, ranging from a technical writer to an analytic chemist. After moving to Rochester NY in 1987, she worked for ten years at the University of Rochester as an analyst/programmer in telecommunications. While taking time away from her career to raise her children, Susan worked as a volunteer in the Albion Central School District, assisting in her daughters' classes. As they grew up, she returned to college and earned her M Ed from Roberts Wesleyan College. Susan taught science and special education for a time in the Rochester City School District until injuries she received on the job forced her to discontinue teaching. Although she had many and varied careers, doing well in each, Susan was proud of her work as a homemaker, and proudest of all of earning the title "Mommy." A devout Christian with an interest in end-times prophecy, Susan was active in online Christian forums. She edited and distributed a newsletter to people interested in Christianity and current events. Susan was preceded into the arms of our Lord by her daughter Amanda Rose Katsanis, who died on 8/3/2007. She is survived by her husband of 26 years: Gary L Katsanis, and their daughters Laura E Katsanis and Rachel A Katsanis, of Albion New York. She is also survived by her parents as well as her sisters Margaret E Mellor and Karen L Nash, her godson and nephew Shawn Cooper, her nephews Jason Cooper and Stephen Suprik and his wife Melissa, as well as numerous other relatives in the Brunner and Nash families of Maryland. A memorial service will be held at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue, Albion New York on January 4th 2014 at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Susan's family would welcome a memorial gift in her name to the Hospice of Orleans, PO Box 489, Albion NY 14411 or PAWS Animal Shelter, PO Box 244, Albion NY 14411. Visitation
